Mindscape

It's the little things that get you

A fresh snow falls blanketing the meadow, enshrouding it all in hush-soft down.

But my focus shifts— to the dark spot where the brook reveals wet black rock.

North Rim. Pitch dark. Chilled, in awe of the galaxy’s rim— a front row seat on our rocket ship through the stars.

The ride breaks. I can’t stop watching the glow of his Casio. Five dollars is all it takes to surrender timelessness.

A mind has ten thousand eyes, But they are all glassed through one narrow lens of the heart. It tints everything.

And this morning, its crimson bleeds into every hue, rendering the world monochrome. I've got a myopic heart.
