Inside a Friday Mind

Inside my head at the end of a long week. Loud is easier than honest. Guitars and old wounds. Bad decisions, sarcasm, lust and jealousy. Noise is nice, it hides weakness. Kind of how style hides inadequacy. Along the way, the bottom startst ot move and the music becomes my voice, my hips become my engine. Missing places and people and things and versions of me I thought I would always be.

How come the we we want evaporates while the we we can live without stay solid and unmoveable? Get away. Stay. Let go. Live.

By the end, it doesn't really feel like a collection of songs anymore. It feels like a Friday night spent moving through every version of myself at once—the smartass, the lonely kid, the romantic, the idiot, the guy who wants to burn the whole thing down and the guy who still hopes somebody says don't go. That's probably why “Stay” has to be the last song. After all the leaving, pretending, wandering, surviving, and saying goodbye, that is the one word underneath everything else. Stay.
