numbers 14:9

Jehovah is with us. Do not fear them.​

But you must not rebel against Jehovah, and you must not fear the people of the land, for we will devour them. Their protection has been removed from them, and Jehovah is with us. Do not fear them.

—Num. 14:9.

The full verse is interesting (as is the chapter). Caleb and Joshua are EMPHATICALLY trying to convince their people to relax and trust their God, countering what the other spies reported.

I always miss that they were ‘chieftains’. Numbers 13:2 points out they were heads, or chieftains. So responsible, and capable.

Yet they lacked faith that God would care for them. They were sinking Peters.

They saw the job before them as insurmountable. Too intense.

Yet Caleb and Joshua knew the truth: 1+ Jehovah is a majority in any case.

Whatever your battle is today, you can win it. And tomorrow. And the day after that. You will be scared. You will feel like a failure. But you will succeed.

If faith were the possession of all men… this would be easy. but it is not. On a long enough timeline, the faithful will always succeed. We just have to keep our eyes up and fixed on the future.

If nothing else, it makes currently failures less significant.

Do not fear humans. Do not fear yourself. There is good in you. Jehovah sees our potential, and accepts our state. You and I are masterpieces found at a garage sale.

There’s a reason we remember the names of Joshua and Caleb.
