Lost Treasure

Joy Division – 1980
I was first introduced to Joy Division long after they become New Order, but was hooked with the first electric sounds of Regret from New Republic in 1993.
I would only learn later of the DNA Joy Division injected into the new iteration of the band.
After a friend recommend the biopic ‘Control’, the whole tapestry made sense.
Won’t Curtis be surprised to see the legs his music has grown.

Love Will Tear Us Apart
When routine bites hard And ambitions are low And resentment rides high But emotions won't grow And we're changing our ways, taking different roads
Then love, love will tear us apart again Love, love will tear us apart again
Why is the bedroom so cold? You've turned away on your side Is my timing that flawed? Our respect runs so dry Yet there's still this appeal That we've kept through our lives
But love, love will tear us apart again Love, love will tear us apart again
You cry out in your sleep All my failings exposed And there's a taste in my mouth As desperation takes hold Just that something so good just can't function no more
But love, love will tear us apart again Love, love will tear us apart again Love, love will tear us apart again Love, love will tear us apart again

Unentered
He didn’t have a name For the invisible garden That pulsed and pulled And breathed restraint
They orbited like stars with forgotten names Seen through the World’s glassy eye
While storms hummed In their hearts Wondering of it was Dream or if it was real
Fragments of whispered Words and glances held in secret The echo of voices from Rooms never entered
Two worlds collided And long ago answered But invisible voices have Replaced indelible passion
The cruelest hunger Is love denied, passion stayed Living with responsibility And knowing consequence
Loves ending in ruin Though ruined already Long before they met They hoped for radiance anyway
To make the ache holy And a best life better How could this be love If it rents lives asunder
Not from hate But from the weight of guilt In the realization of how Beautiful they were together
When the tearing comes — And ends in silence and closed doors — They knew there was love
In the secret, sacred parts of them And that would have to be enough.
Thank you Ian.
